A coworker of mine always brings in a box of Tootsie Roll Pops, and every time I take one, I can’t help but check to see if “I’m a winner”. I remember getting so excited when I found the “Indian and Star” on my wrapper when I was a kid, thinking that I could mail the wrapper in for free candy.

Sadly, my suspicions of fraud were true – it’s nothing but a hard to kill rumor, and Snopes confirms. I wonder why that rumor was so prevalent when I was younger. Anyone else been exposed to this rumor when they were younger? I guess it’s time to stop stockpiling them.
